
You can tell from this sample of public art that Newquay thinks of itself as a surf town. Which of course it is. What you can also almost tell by peering through the ironwork is that sun and surf were gracing other parts of the world last week. But the small clean waves on Towan Beach were good for riding your foamy, and the surprising number of people in the ice-cold water explained the shocking size of Cornwall beach crowds in the summer.
