Osama bin Laden wished for an oil price of $144 per barrel in 1998, back when oil went for $11 per barrel. He also called for a withdrawal of American troops from Saudi Arabia.

And although gas now goes for around four dollars a gallon in the United States, which makes people holler, Germans have been squirming about the 1,60 euro-per-liter threshold. Which, at 1 US gallon = 3.78541178 liters and a rough $1 = 1.5 euros, comes to 6,06 euros or nine blessed American dollars per gallon.
