Straight from the movie, dad. The subway in Budapest really does look like that.

  1. Is it a film about the Budapest rush hour? It looks very eventful. Nothing like that ever happens on the U2. Even Japanese tourists with cameras. Imagine!

  2. Accessing the Budapest subway is the ONLY time I have ever gotten panicky on an escalator. They just keep going down and down…

  3. I actually had to double check it, but I did write in my journal 16 years ago that “Going below Budapest will make you think deeper than you have ever thought on an escalator…with plenty of time to explore your mind after a night out and wonder about all the hell talk.” Hey, I’m not saying it was good…just my notes in a journal.

  4. Yeah, I saw the movie a couple of years back when it first hit California. I think about it regularly when waiting for the U-Bahn, there’s something about certain East Berlin stations that have exactly that same Iron-Curtain feeling about them. Fabulously weird movie, I recommend it.
