“The United States is one of a handful of countries with no guaranteed paid maternity leave policy, along with Swaziland, Papua New Guinea, Lesotho and Liberia, researchers found last year.”

I saw that story earlier and I thought: “Four months!!!! You get four months!” So I asked around for a couple of days, and every woman I talked to agreed, “Four months! What a waste of time.” Interesting, to say the least.

— Ed Ward Apr 29, 04:44 pm #Hmmmm…my daughter was born in late March…so that would have meant I could have juggled my time just fine between the baby and golf for four months while two grandmothers hawked over the kid for the most part when it was just pooping, peeing and crying. I would have been payed, so I wouldn’t be spedning money on work, and could afford to have a nanny even.
It really is startling math when you think about it. What a shock to the US-Way it would be.
