I know, it’s two days early this year. That happens rarely, once or twice per lifetime, or less, when Irish bishops warn the Vatican that St. Patrick’s Day and all its unavoidable drinking will fall inside Holy Week, and the Vatican responds by saying, “Christ, you’re right,” and moves the official date to, say, a Saturday just outside Holy Week, when the pubs can stay open and do a roaring business.
