GYGAX: Hit points -10

John Borland points out that E. Gary Gygax, the science-fiction geek who threw creatures from Gaelic and Indian and Greek myth into a bin with creatures from Tolkien and even monsters from English cuisine, to create a new kind of game, has died. But not before he wound up in a Matt Groenig cartoon with Lt. Uhura.

  1. I was a mere spectator with D&D (though I think my brother may have humoured me by making me a character or two) but I’ve always wanted to read this book, if only because of the title: The Elfish Gene

  2. This seriously sounds like a joke which deserves an atomic wedgie…and my close friends laugh about it…but I have seen all three of them in airports over the years, and I knew who they were and I got a skip in my step.

My wife has a great Stephen story about using the stall next to him and his nurse at an airport…maybe another time.

    Great art, BTW.
